Restaurants and businesses have planned a smorgasbord of tasty foods, coffee and wine at the Tavares Chamber of Commerce's inaugural "Taste of Tavares" scheduled for Nov. 17 at the Civic Center.

Some of the participates, include Nicker's at Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills, Gracie's Backporch Cafe, O'Keefe's Irish Pub and Restaurant, Angelo's Italian Restaurant, Harbor Side Restaurant and My Sweet Shoppe, all in Tavares, Vic's Embers in Leesburg, and Crispers and PJ's Coffee and Wine Bar, both in Eustis.

The Service Corps of Retired Executives in conjunction with Lake Technical Center will put on a small-business workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at the center, 2001 Kurt St. Eustis.

The workshop will be an overview of the steps essential in marketing a product or service on the Internet. The topics will include setting your marketing strategy, winning the name game and making the most of e-mail.

The Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its monthly business and community luncheon at noon Nov. 9 at the Waterman Village Lodge, 445 Waterman Ave., Mount Dora. Cost is $10. Kevin McEwen from Hillcrest Insurance Agency in Mount will be the guest speaker.

Also, SunTrust Bank will sponsor the Mount Dora chamber's Business After Hours from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at its Mount Dora branch, 200 Fifth Ave.

Community Health Centers, a nonprofit health-care organization that provides primary medical, dental and pharmaceutical services to the uninsured and under-insured in Lake and Orange counties, is seeking Hispanic volunteers to serve on its board.

The organization has two offices in Lake County, including the South Lake Family Health Center in Groveland and Leesburg Community Health Center.

The South Lake Chamber of Commerce will have a job fair from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Minneola City Hall auditorium. Chamber members may participate free of charge.

Timothy Snead, an investment representative with Edward Jones in Eustis, will have a limited supply of the 2005 editions of U.S. Master Tax Guide and the U.S. Master Estate and Gift Tax Guide by CCH Inc.

Cherry Lake Tree Farm, a wholesale nursery in Groveland, was named the 2005 winner for design and landscape excellence at its place of business at the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association's awards program in Orlando.
