"I'm done with boxing. When Larry Holmes asked me to fight him recently, my wife told me 'no'. It was the first time she had put a demand on me in over 20 years of marriage.
George is also upbeat about the state of the modern game. Ask some old-timers what they think of boxing today, and they'll shake their heads and tut.
And, unsurprisingly for a man who was still fighting at 48, George thinks Audley Harrison, Britain's 34-year-old former Olympic champion, has got plenty of time to make the grade.
