The Dubai Department of Tourism Commerce and Marketing (DTCM) has brought another award for Dubai after bagging top honours at the recently-concluded Ukraine Travel Market-2005 in Kiev with the emirate’s stand being adjudged the best.

The stand, measuring over 100 sq meters, showcased the emirate's myriad tourist attractions with the support of 17 companies in the tourism sector. Patronised by the World Tourism Organisation, the global tourism event highlighted Dubai 's fast-expanding tourism and leisure industry to an enthusiastic Ukrainian audience.

The department has been working in tandem with the private sector for the development of tourism industry and to create services that are beyond the expectations of visitors.

Dubai is fast emerging as a destination of choice for the Russian and CIS visitors. The year 2004 recorded a seven per cent increase in the number of visitors to Dubai 's hotels from CIS, Russian and Baltic countries.

A large number of Dubai-based tour operators and representatives from travel agencies, national and regional tourist associations, airlines, hotels and insurance service providers participated in the event which provided an opportunity to highlight all that Dubai has to offer.

This is the first time that the DTCM had participated in the Ukraine Travel Market, taking into account the growing interest about Dubai in the CIS markets.
